Rector of the Latvian Academy of Culture
The Chair of the Council of Rectors of Latvia is elected from among the rectors of higher education institutions by secret ballot by a simple majority for two years. The Chair may be re-elected.
On June 10, 2022, the Rector of the Latvian Academy of Culture Rūta Muktupāvela was re-elected the Chair of the Council of Rectors of Latvia for the third consecutive term.
The Chair:
- convenes council meetings;
- manages and organizes the work of the council and is responsible for the performance of the council’s tasks;
- determines the duties of the members of the council and controls their fulfillment;
- represents the Council of Rectors of Latvia or authorizes other members to represent it in various institutions in matters related to the tasks of the Council of Rectors of Latvia.
Secretariat
The Secretariat ensures the operation of the Council of Rectors of Latvia. The Secretariat organizes the meetings of the Council, prepares the draft documents to be considered at the meetings, and ensures their availability to the members of the Council. The Secretary-General is a permanent operational position that carries out the administrative management of the Council.
